You’ll be right in the midst of it as you travel through iconic areas like Times Square, 5th Avenue, Broadway and Wall Street. Get to the beating heart of NYC on our Explore Downtown route. So far though, I'd rather be kicked in the nuts than pay for this bus line again.Take a bite of the Big Apple on our red route. We are now headed down the east side of Central Park and the information has finally started to play a little more. This makes me wonder why, with all the songs about New York, is Eye of the Tiger playing? That song is Philly, not NYC. Meanwhile the song list has played through thrice. After 1 hour and 15 minutes we're about four stops in and have heard information only twice. We look online and see that the "free wifi" is for 10 minutes, you have to pay after that. Also around this time we notice that our phones are no longer connected to the "free wifi". We take back off and as we are going through the corner of Hells Kitchen we actually hear something informative! This lasts about 10 seconds then it's back to more New York themed music with New York, New York by Sinatra. This bus actually has a covered top and smells marginally better. Back in to the cold we go (not terribly disappointed as that bus smelled like urine) and I notice the completely full tire.Ībout five minutes later the next bus rolls up. It's at this point that they tell us the bus is going out of service due to a flat tire and they pointed to the front right wheel. ![]() At the first stop we are questioning each other why all we have heard so far is New York State of Mind by Billy Joel and Empire State of Mind by Jay-Z but no information for sights. We hop on and are fortunate enough to get a seat downstairs since this is an open top bus. 20 minutes of standing on a windy winter New York City later, the bus finally arrives. The sales person had said busses come every 10-15 minutes and TopView advertises that they are the most frequent busses. We go to the nearest stop to wait for the Uptown Tour (blue route). Granted, we paid the advertised price, but there was a huge discount online. Online the tickets were half what we paid. Only after we purchased did we look online at ticket prices. ![]() The sales person said he give us a deal on the 3 day pass. Our mistake was buying the tickets on the street as opposed to online. We have done many HOHO busses all around the world and love them so we thought we'd do one. We've only been here a couple of hours and were thinking of things to do when we saw the hop on hop off busses going by. My wife and I are in NYC for our 8th anniversary and it is my first trip here. ![]()
